Software Engineer
Job Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable web applications and RESTful APIs for our digital platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate third-party payment gateways (including M-Pesa and local banking APIs), optimize database performance, and ensure strict system security across our services.
- Develop, test, and deploy robust backend and frontend software solutions.
- Integrate local digital payment systems, payment aggregators, and SMS gateways.
- Collaborate with product managers and UI/UX designers to translate requirements into technical specifications.
- Perform code reviews, optimize database queries, and maintain system documentation.
Job Requirements
We are looking for a proactive developer who understands scalable architecture, relational databases, and modern web frameworks.
- 3+ years of hands-on software development experience with PHP, Python, or Node.js.
- Strong expertise in SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and REST API integration.
- Solid understanding of Git, server deployment (Linux/Nginx), and modern front-end frameworks (Bootstrap, Vue, or React).
- Prior experience integrating mobile money services (M-Pesa Daraja API, Pesapal, etc.) is highly desirable.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Technology (BBIT), Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university. Equivalent practical experience or verifiable professional certifications will also be considered.
